Tucked amongst soft, sculptured roses, a little bird pauses for just a moment.
Amongst the Roses was inspired by those small encounters with nature that are easy to miss - a bird resting amongst the blooms, the colours of a garden or a fleeting moment that makes you stop and look a little closer.
Layers of acrylic paint and modelling paste bring the roses to life, with each petal individually shaped to create the sculptural texture that is at the heart of my work. Set against a fresh blue background, the soft pink rose and their tiny visitor create a joyful little scene celebrating the beauty found in everyday.
Created entirely by hand in my Cairns studio, Amongst the Roses is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork designed to bring colour, texture and a little piece of nature into its forever home.
